I started publishing Macaroni Kid Louisville East with the mission of bringing families closer together by sharing all of the great events and activities designed just for them close to home. That's why it seemed natural that I would help promote Screen-Free Week from April 30 - May 6, 2012.

Springtime Cupcakes

My kids love cupcakes and they especially love being part of the baking process which culminates in them pouring sprinkles all over the top to decorate post frosting.  In the end we have sprinkles all over the kitchen, empty bottles of sprinkles (those things add up!) and cupcakes that crunch when you eat them.  Next time I make cupcakes with the kids, I'm trying this for an easy and less messy approach that will still delight! Friday, April 27 - Frogs and Toads Hike @ EP Tom Sawyer State Park

Bring a flashlight and learn about the differences between frogs and toads. It might get dark by the end of the hike.

Saturday, April 28 - Guided Hike at Jefferson Memorial Forest

Natural Areas volunteers will be hosting guided hikes on the last Saturday of each month throughout 2012. Most hikes have a brief topic of interest for the day, and volunteers will be able to answer questions about the Forest and interpret the natural world to visitors.  Today's Hike: Scott's Gap 3.3 miles.  Meet in the Scott's Gap Parking Lot.  Where closed toed shoes for hiking!

Children come in their pj’s for some gentle stretching, yoga poses and relaxation, followed by a story and a special treat.  All this for only $5.00 per child ($3.00 per additional siblings). With 18 locations surrounding Louisville, you can always find something happening at the LFPL!  Weekly reoccuring library activities are listed here.  One time only activites will appear on the newsletter and calendar.  Since this is Louisville East Macaroni Kid, I've limited my search to include the eight libraries below.  For a complete list of all library activities, view the LFPL website.  Residents of Oldham county can apply for a library card at the LFPL if you or your spouse works in Jefferson County.
