Make Your Own Marbled Paper With Shaving Cream

By Tammy Gnagy January 15, 2017
Here is a fun craft you can do that gives awesome results with just a few things that you probably already have around the house. My kids were amazed at the results.

You can use the paper for homemade gift wrap. Choose certain colors such as red and green for Christmas or red and pink for Valentine's Day to make it special for events and holidays.

What you need:
Aluminum foil
Shaving Cream
Heavier weight white paper - although we used regular copy paper and it was fine
Food coloring
Spatula
Paintbrushes
Something flat to scrape the shaving cream off the paper, I used a pan scraper but you could just use the side of a spatula.

Start by putting down a sheet of aluminum foil a little bigger than your paper. Spray shaving cream all over in the same shape and size as your paper. Use the spatula to spread it out flat, it doesn't have to be very thick, maybe 1/2 inch.

Choose what colors of food coloring you want to use and start making drops of food coloring all over the shaving cream. You don't have to use a lot, but the more you use the more swirls you will get.

Using a paint brush, start twirling the paint together until you get the pattern you want. Don't swirl it too much or the colors will start mixing together.

Lay a piece of paper directly on top of the shaving cream. Press lightly and try not to shift the paper.

Now carefully lift the paper up. It will look like a mess! Don't worry! Lay the paper down and use a straight edge, like the pan scraper or spatula, and scrape all the excess shaving cream off the paper.

Underneath all the shaving cream will be your beautiful artwork! Let it dry and it will be ready for wrapping, making cards, or just to enjoy hanging on the wall.
