Field Day Family Farm
is a 20 year local vegetable farm located on historic Oxmoor Farm. It is like a rural oasis nestled in between the Oxmoor Country Club and I-64. The head of the operation is farmer Ivor Chodkowski, long-time sustainable foods and community advocate whose work includes a twelve-year-old farm apprenticeship, the new (and the old) local foods business called grasshoppers, and serving as a founding board member of the Food Literacy Project which has hosted thousands of area kids. He also owns Harvest Restaurant.

One of Ivor’s main passions though has always been community supported agriculture. The community part of this arrangement is essential to its success, with the farmer and the subscribers each agreeing, actually committing to, on the one side provide and on the other side support local family-scale agriculture. Subscribers, also sometimes called shareholders, get a share of the farm’s production, including almost every vegetable people can think of along with a variety of dried beans. Shareholders also get recipes and suggestions for how to handle and prepare what they might be receiving in their boxes.

Folks can expect to get 6-7 items per box per week, with the boxes being more full by volume in the spring and fall   (think salad and cooking greens) and more full by weight in summer (think tomatoes, squash, green beans). There is a choice of length of season between 24 weeks (595), 29 weeks (665), and 34 weeks (765). The regular 24 week season begins May 22nd and the extended     season begins May 8th.
Installment payments are available as is online payment on the website, www.fielddayfamilyfarm.us.

Pick up spot opportunities include the Highlands, Crescent Hill, and the farm (Hikes Point area). Pick up times are between 5 and 8 pm on Tuesdays. There is an additional Friday afternoon pick up at the farm only. Friday farm pick up is also 5 to 8 pm, but farm pick up is generally more flexible with folks sometimes collecting their boxes on the following morning.
