Hike It Baby Louisville is one of 300+ local branches of the national not-for-profit organization, Hike It Baby. Their mission? To raise a generation to love the outdoors - starting from birth! Hike It Baby offers parents the opportunity to connect with their children and other families in nature through the act of hiking!
The national program started in 2013 when founder Shanti Hodges invited a few families to join her for a casual hike. From there, with the help of hosts and volunteers, the program has grown from a handful of families to more than 200,000 across North America! Through Hike It Baby's website and social media sites, parents can find amazing tools: a Family Trail Guide, a calendar of hikes, fun challenges, forums, and so much more!
Hike It Baby Louisville was formed in 2015 by Emily Ibershoff and currently has over 1000 members. The group explores nature - in both Louisville and Southern Indiana - through hikes, park and play meet-ups, and local farm visits to feed livestock or pick fresh produce. Hike It Baby Louisville strives to provide a minimum of one hike per week, but any member can host a hike!
Tracy Kessler, an Ambassador for Hike It Baby Louisville, has been a member for 4 years. "I love Hike It Baby because it's extra motivation to get outside with the kiddos," said Tracy. "I also love all of the wonderful people and friends we have met over the years."
