Party for the Planet: A Month-Long Celebration of the Earth at the Zoo

March 6, 2021

Party for the Planet: A Month-Long Celebration of the Earth powered by the LG&E and KU Foundation will launch in its usual slot in April 2021.

This month-long celebration will include $5.25 admission for Fun Day Mondays on April 5,12,19 and 26 as well as $8.25 admission on April 25 when the Zoo will celebrate its Earth Day Festival. The Zoo’s social channels will also feature conservation-minded videos on each Saturday in April from some of the Zoo’s eco-partners.  And, after being postponed for COVID-19 last year ZooPoopyDoo compost sales return each Saturday in April (April 3,10,17,24) and May 1 and 15. Compost must be purchased in advance online. Prices and information available at louisvillezoo.org/earth.

Everyone, including members, must reserve or purchase tickets online in advance at louisvillezoo.org/tickets. No one will be admitted without a ticket. Guests will be asked to choose their date and hour of arrival. Tickets are valid for the reserved date and time only, however, guests may enjoy the Zoo at their leisure. The special ticketing policy, including frequently asked questions, is available at louisvillezoo.org/together.

The student winners of the Trashformation Recycled Art Contest will also be announced as part of Earth Day on April 22 on the Zoo’s social channels and on the Zoo’s website at LouisvilleZoo.org/Trashformation.

“Even in these challenging times, Party for the Planet provides a great opportunity for people to enjoy animals, nature and the world around us,” said LG&E and KU Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs Angie Evans. “This event can also serve as a catalyst for families to start a dialogue with children early on about how we can all do our part to help preserve the earth.”

“We believe that the planet we inhabit deserves more than just one day to celebrate,” said Louisville Zoo Director John Walczak. “We are grateful to our partners — LG&E and KU Foundation— for helping us make the $5.25 Fun Day Mondays and the Earth Day Community Discount possible.”
