Harbor House Hosts Annual Ken-Ducky Derby

The Ken-Ducky Derby Celebrates 20th Anniversary

On April 29, 2023, Harbor House will host the annual Ken-Ducky Derby as part of the Kentucky Derby Festival. It is a family-oriented festival and an Official Kentucky Derby Festival event. Harbor House’s Ducklings Kids Area will open with crafts, music, games, and more at 1pm. A Duck Waddle Parade through Fest-a-Ville will begin at 3pm. Viewers can watch thousands of ducks tumble into the Ohio River at 4pm on the waterfront at Fest-a-Ville, followed by the announcement of the winners at Fest-a-Ville Stage. This year 50,000 ducks will race!

Some of the locations that are “going Yellow for Quacky” are KY Center for the Performing Arts, Lynn Family Stadium, Big 4 Bridge, and of course our favorite, WLKY!

“Our mission is so important.” Karen Fallon, Director of Development says. “We hope supporters understand adopting a duck for this year’s race is going to improve the lives of our participants and the communities we serve.”

Adopt a duck and change a life! Each duck adoption is $5 and you could win one of the following prizes: 1st place Prize - 2023 Toyota Corolla donated by Toyota of Louisville, 2nd place prize - $1,000, 3rd Place prize- $500, 4th place - Meta Quest 2 VR Headset, 5th place - Children’s Bike, or 6th place -Lego Set of Bugatti Race Car!

EVERYONE who adopts a duck ALSO has the CHANCE to WIN ONE MILLION DOLLARS - if your duck comes in 3rd place and is a pre-selected 'MILLION DOLLAR DUCK!’ Proceeds from this event go towards helping Harbor House provide resources and programs.

Our Harbor House family has much to celebrate - 30 years in existence, the 20th anniversary of the Ken-Ducky Derby, and soon we will open Kentucky’s 1st Intergenerational Life Center! When Kentucky’s first Intergenerational Life Center (ILC) opens this Fall, we will expand programs, break down barriers, and bring people of all abilities and ages - children, adults, and seniors - together for centralized vocational, health, and educational services.
