Squire Boone Caverns Celebrates 50 Years!

June 16, 2023

We have welcomed visitors to our cave for 50 years now!  We have grown a little bit but the cave itself has not changed much in the last 50 years.

June, July, and weekends in August until Labor Day Monday we will be open from 10:00 to 5:00.

There is so much to do at Squire Boone Caverns

The gristmill does demonstrations on how corn was and is ground into cornmeal and grits.  The candle shop demonstrator explains how the pioneers made candles and then shows everyone how we make candles today.  If they like they can dip a birthday candle themselves.  Boone’s Kitchen has all sorts of cookies, brownies, cornmeal pie, and sandwiches available.  Gem mining is where folks can get a bag of mine rough and mine for gems and minerals.  The Rock Shop has hundreds and hundreds of different types of minerals and fossils.  The prices range from .93 cents to $2,000.00 depending on what you are looking for.

Our newest addition is Squire’s Barnyard.  It is a walk-through barnyard with sheep, goats, and mini pigs. Signs tell you the stories of our animals since they are all rescues!

Last but not least the cavern tour takes about an hour and is a guided slow walk through the cavern. Cavern tours depart about every 35 to 45 minutes. Waterfalls, Stalactites, Stalagmites, Draperies, and many more formations can be seen as we slowly walk through the cave system.
