One of the easiest, cheapest family-friendly things our family does is to go for a hike or walk. I thought I would list some of our favorite places that are around Louisville, plus some places that I want to try this year. I am sure I have not listed every place if you have a favorite leave a comment after the article so I can add it to the list. Click here to see 5 trails with creek access at The Parklands
Anchorage Trail - A nice paved walking path right in the middle of Anchorage. With swings, places to stop and look at wetlands and multiple beautiful places for pictures.
Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve - With over 9 miles of trails over 170 acres and a nature center, this is a wonderful place for a hike or a stroll.
Bernheim - So much to do here! With over 35 miles of trails of all levels of difficulty, it's hard to run out of places to explore - currently closed due to Covid-19
The Parklands - Countless trails, paved, gravel, and dirt and stone surfaces spanning over 3 different parks.
The Louisville Loop - A 100-mile loop that will encircle the city when completed. There are plenty of completed sections to explore in the meantime.
Yew Dell Gardens - A beautiful botanical garden that is perfect for a stroll, or scavenger hunt. They also have over a mile of hiking trails.
E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park - 3 trails, a 1-mile fitness trail, the 1.25 mile Goose Creek Trail and an additional trail that leads to the park's vernal pond.
Harrods Creek Park - The "Blue" Trail ends at a sandy beach in a bend in Harrods Creek that is usually bustling with wildlife. The "Orange Trail" is the easiest and most accessible of the four trails and gives great views of Harrods Creek. The "Red" and "Green" trails are a bit more rugged but offer access to more remote areas of the park.

Briar Hill Park - Walking trail
Morgan Conservation Park - Hiking trails
Peggy E. Baker Park - Paved Walking Trail
